...this.

Andy Capp is published (if I remember correctly) daily in the Daily Mirror here in the UK. The website for the paper is at http://www.mirror.co.uk/ and it comes with the tagline: "News Headlines, Celebs and Football". So you can see who the Mirror is aimed at! :)

I hardly ever buy a paper these days (I vary from being fascinated by the news to ignoring it completely) and if I was going to buy a paper it wouldn't be the Mirror. However, one of the things I love about the tabloids is their love of comic strips.

My favourite these days is Andy Capp. Andy is an unemployed, relaxation expert (i.e. he spends most of his day napping on the couch). He's married to Flo who, somehow, manages to put up with him without killing him! :) From the comics it seems she does most of the work around the house though he helps:

Hee! :D

The comic that I'm going to be e-mailing to my darling however is this one:

That's SO me!!

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to try "The Tales Of Monkey Island" demo from TellTale Games. Whee! :D

So I've seen some 'mixtapes' posted here of songs that sound very Gelphie, and I was wondering if you all could share with me any others. Music heavily influences me when I write, so I like to have a Gelphie playlist on my iTunes to listen to while I write. I also make videos on occasion, and since I'll be going out of town for a few weeks and won't have internet I'll have tons of time to write and make videos so I wanted to ask you all what songs remind you of Gelphie and what songs you think would make good videos.

From the British Sitcom Guide.

1) UKTV has signed a new rights deal with Channel 4. It means the likes of Green Wing, Star Stories and Smack The Pony will soon be seen on Dave, UKTV's Freeview repeat channel.

2) Channel 4 have announced the six sitcoms that will form its 2009 Comedy Showcase season. They include a comedy from the Green Wing team set on a uni campus, a sitcom set in a phone shop that has been script edited by Ricky Gervais, and a pilot from The Worst Week Of My Life writers Mark Bussell and Justin Sbresni about a man from Stoke-on-Trent who ends up in Guantanamo Bay.

I'm excited.

I wonder if anybody mentioned this or I've just been too lazy to surf past entries, but on the WB website, they have the first season of Pushing Daisies for free viewing!
I have no idea how long it'll last, but I've been watching non-stop. :D

Just thought it might brighten someone's day, because that's what it did for me.

[info]anita_coffee has just reminded me about the following, from 4x12 "Guns Not Butter":

"JOSH
So, if we're lucky, foreign aid's going to be funded for another 90 days at 75 cents
on the dollar. No one who's ever said they wanted bipartisanship has ever meant it.
But the people are speaking. Because 68% think we give too much in foreign aid, and
59% think it should be cut.

WILL
You like that stat?

JOSH
I do.

WILL
Why?

They reach JOSH'S BULLPEN AREA.

JOSH
Because 9% think it's too high, and shouldn't be cut! 9% of respondents could not fully
get their arms around the question. There should be another box you can check for, "I
have utterly no idea what you're talking about. Please, God, don't ask for my input.""

Quote taken from "The White House Communications Office" website.

I don't know why that quote amuses me so but it does - I guess its because it focuses on how people have opinions on things they know NOTHING about and people (media, politicians etc) act on those because they don't want to appear "Out of touch". And for some reason, that seems stupid to me! :P

Title: Elphaba Thropp's Dirty Letter
Author: phyrablaze
Verse: AU; some musicalverse, some bookverse
Pairing: Glinda/Elphaba
Rating: NC-17
Warnings: strong, vulgar language; "minor" character death
Disclaimer: I don't own anything Wicked, nor did I have anything to do with James Joyce's letters! The combined universe described below, though, is of my own creation.
Author's Note: the letter itself was not only inspired by, but is indeed a total ripoff parody exploitation of one of James Joyce's naughty letters.
which brings me to this! if anyone here has not yet stumbled across the (obscenely dirty) letters of James Joyce to his wife Nora Barnacle, over a several-month expedition away from her, you should go to the following web address (unless you are easily flustered):
http://johnhamilton.us/2/jamesjoyceletters.htm

This is my first fic posted here...
Also, my first Gelphie fic in any form (that i've published anywhere, at least). be gentle? but concrit's great.

first, a lengthy explanation of my universe, then the letter, then James Joyce's original letter. enjoy. )
